First I dont know what do you mean in your first sentens, During my time in China, I have never heard anything about such stupid things like Taiwan want to take over mainland. Maybe some decades(5?) earliers, but i am still not sure. the first time i ever heard about that was on this messageboard.
But it is already too much that taiwan want to become independent.
Centrel governement desont really want to use force to unite taiwan with mainland, if taiwan doesnt become independent, they are willing to wait peacefully, not even a time limit was set, but since lee deng hui the situations changes dramaticly. and taiwan will more likely to become independent if they have more weapons. so like i have said before, the more and better weapons taiwan gets, the worse and dangerous the situation will become.
It is sad but i believe if it is the last chance, centrel governement will fight against taiwan for the reunification no matter how hard it may be. If taiwan become independent, it will be their end and also the end of all hopes of chinese people, so before lose everthing, at least a "try" must be done.
