Of course china has also spies in the usa, but lets say chinese spying isnt is a little bit more secret and less arrogant than US spying. (which doesnt cause so many stupid conflicts in public). And a country like China need mass destruction weapons. It wont work for such a big country without any power. (today even india, parkistan and isaerl have mass destruction weapons)
And the chinese people can not be peace-loving
when the relation with such a powerful country like usa is almost in toilet.
For the tiananmen incident I think the governement did the right thing.
At that time I am still in Beijing, even if I was still a small child, I remembered what happened.
It is hard to imagne what will happen to China if the students have succesed. Maybe they want to make china better but I really doubt their intelligence.
I should have known that China wasnt ready for such a big change yet. (both the governement and China herself) the majority of chinese people have already many problems because of the rapid change of chinese communism. If the students have succesed, then i believe there will be big chaos in China, or in the best case, china will become a second india or second russian. (I dont think it is so good for china.)
Beside they are only a handful people in the chinese population, and the minority always lose.
At least they need the help of another class of chinese population(guess which) to have sucess. And the majority of the chinese must be ready for the big change and they should not be supporting the governement. But it wasnt the case then and even today. So I will say the chinese governement is very clever to get the mass population under their "controll". (strangly i dont think it is a very bad thing if the chinese governement can keep reforming against cooruption and other problems.)

As i can remember so far during the incident, at first the student made hunger protest at tiananmen place, then the governement tried to speak with them and police come as well i think, but the students didnt stop the protest, some days(?) after that the governement send army to scare them off(peacefull, i mean with out shooting and things like that) But it didnt work and the army went back. then they try to speak to the students again but still without sucess, some days(?) after that the hardliner in the governement won and the army come a second time, and this time it was really scary.
Surely many people died in this incident, but I am almost certain that there wasnt as many death as they told in other countries. (If you wonder why, not because of the "propaganda" of the chinese governement)

Certainly, the method of the governement was very brutal, but what should them have done? They have to do this in order to keep the stability in china.(and for their controll, only a stupid governement want to lose it) This little riot is damned to be lose at the very beginning and it even made it harder for china to change to democracy. (Again I am not for democracy in china, not yet.) It was their own fault to lose and die because of their lack of intelligence.
